school for fm alexander studies.
I was the first graduate from the School for FM Alexander Studies (SOFMAS) in 1998 and have since taught in the school on a regular basis continuing to study and develop my specialist interest in the application of the Alexander Technique in yoga and horse riding, two lifetime passions within and outside school.
Teaching in the school isĀ richly rewarding following students over the 3 years of study. The privilege of staff membership is continuous professional development with visiting senior and international Alexander Technique teachers. All these men and women bring richness and challenges from the variables of training methods, school traditions, cultural and creative backgrounds diverse yet connected, thus allowing exchange, exploration, development and refinement.
healesville (1 hour from melbourne)
Here, my partner john cuthbert and I run a bed and breakfast - educational facility - 'studio evolving'. A place for retreats, workshops, classes and private lessons. A beautiful environment, vegetable garden, horses, chickens, cats and dogs. By sharing our life style we hope to make the Alexander Technique accessible and practicable for all.
The studio also offers a lovely venue for any interested people to run a small group/workshop with accommodation for 8 people.
yoga
I experimented with yoga practice for many years prior to Alexander Technique teacher training. Since graduation I have also been working with David Moore and Karen Chapman.
The Alexander Technique is the most useful way to explore and develop yoga and meditation practice. Each individual finds ease in movement and stillness as they are able. Private lessons and weekly classes are available. (Refer to our web site)
horses
My lifetimes experience with horses, riding, teaching and training has evolved utilizing the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique can benefit horse and riders well-being, soundness and ease of moving. And then can be used to refine riding skills. Making my work suitable for all horses and all riders - beginner to advanced. Lessons with our horses are suitable for anyone interested in exploring Alexander Technique principals. Students of the Alexander Technique teacher training course or graduates will find a little 'horse work' challenging and often transforming.
Our gentle school horses work wonders 'in the moment'.
Private lessons, workshops. post-graduate work available. (Refer to our web site)
