What We Do
AUSTAT is an Incorporated Association that represents the interests of its members in Australia and Taiwan. We work within a constitution and a code of professional conduct. Some of our services are:
To develop teaching pedagogy and Training Standards in consultation with our members in order to provide the highest quality teaching to the Australian and Taiwanese public.
To assist our Teacher members in their Alexander practices through provision of insurances, best practice and professional guidelines.
To provide diverse opportunities for professional education, collaboration and innovation in Alexander Technique teaching.
To promote, publicise and inform about the Alexander Technique and its benefits within Australia and Taiwan
Continuing Professional Education
AUSTAT Alexander Technique teachers are experts in their field because they spend many years initially training to become teachers. Once they meet all the requirements to become a member of AUSTAT, our teachers continue to undertake training through personal research, attendance at monthly seminars, conferences and guest speaker events.
AUSTAT organises a variety of regular events to assist our members to maintain and grow their skills.
AUSTAT Council
AUSTAT is administered by a volunteer Council and a number of Standing Committees made of Alexander Technique Teachers from Australia and Taiwan.
