Hello and welcome,

In the mid 80's I was introduced to the Alexander Technique after searching widely for a long term solution to chronic neck and back pain resulting from ski accidents and breathing difficulties etc. I resisted this new discovery for a while. The pain made a quick fix more desirable. However, the short term solutions increased in number and eventually I realised a long term application/education was the answer. The Alexander Technique helped me discover holding patterns that contributed to tightening and responses that interfered with breathing. Fear patterns develop around pain both physical and emotional. These patterns were set in place and needed undoing.  Allowing time to respond differently started a beneficial process.  With AT knowledge and experience my breathing and general functioning changed for the better. Increased awareness and application restored harmony. Training and teaching this beneficial work became of prime interest. I know from personal experience that AT works and its application has continued benefits. Travelling abroad gaining valuable AT knowledge has been essential and inspiring.

1996 Completed a three year, 1600 hr training with Andrea Beesley and opened a teaching room at The Rocks, Sydney. Also taught at WEA in Sydney alongside colleagues after graduation.

2001 moved to North Avoca on the Central Coast to continue teaching.

2007/10 published "The Thinking Series" of books for small children. Thinking Where I Am, Thinking About a Smile, Thinking About Space, Thinking About Colour and Thinking About Support.

In 2013/14 Completed a post grad certificate course in the USA "Jessica Wolf's Art of Breathing"

2015 Completed a post grad course, the Psycho-Physical Support System for Breathing with Ron Murdock and Nadia Kevan - Netherlands.

Learning how to recognise the responses, be they physical or emotional, that disturb the ease of connection and efficiency in breathing. Harmony is restored.

Breath - the gift of life by J Costin

We breathe, moving we breathe, happy we breathe, sad we breathe Breath is there for us always .Our bodies receive the moving rhythm and flow. Breathing out and breathing in, without fuss. Matching quiet times, matching playtime. Sometimes a quiet rhythm, sometimes a full and easy fast rhythm. Perfectly matching our sleep and play. Our bodies move inside. Movement inside and out. Could this remind us of the ocean waves moving? Small waves lap, lapping on the shore. Large waves, as seen before. Shapes large, shapes small, moving out, moving in Shape changing waves reaching the shore.
