I have loved sharing the Alexander Technique with people since graduating in Melbourne in 2007. I have been offering Alexander Technique in Bendigo since moving here with my family in 2012.
I am a qualified Yoga teacher (Registered with Yoga Australia) with over two decades of experience in applying Alexander Technique principals to yoga practice. I am also a Social Worker working in the area of mental health.
I am an Assistant Trainer with Optimum Dental Posture, a program which specializes in the recovery and prevention of work related injuries in the dental profession using the Alexander Technique.
I first came across Alexander Technique when I joined a yoga class taught by an Alexander Teacher. I found the technique helpful with body awareness and coordination. It also helped me to deal with a shoulder injury I got from doing repetitive tasks at work. After a series of lessons, I realised that the Alexander Technique principles were helping me to prevent injuries from developing, to feel more confident and to manage stress. I have found the technique very helpful in stressful work and personal situations.
Many of my students come because of pain, but also to improve their comfort and performance and to manage the changes that can be associated with ageing. Many students find that learning the Alexander Technique supports their emotional and mental wellbeing as well as their physical selves.
As well as individual lessons with students, I offer small group yoga classes with a focus on adapting yoga poses to suit individual bodies and needs.
I welcome contact from people who are thinking about learning the Alexander Technique, to discuss how it might suit their particular situation.
